We all have our preferences. Part of living life well is knowing our own and finding ways to fulfill them.
Within a given preference, there will often be a question of balance. We may prefer one way of living mostly, yet still enjoy or even need to experience the opposite from time to time.
A few days ago, I described the four stages of learning. In that post, I used a child learning to tie their shoelaces as an example of the process.
Since I wrote that, it’s occurred to me that there’s another point to be made using that example. It’s at least as important as the knowledge of the four stages. Realizing this will both speed your progress and increase your joy as you achieve unconscious competence.
Whenever you learn a new skill, you go through four stages of learning. It’s as true with the life skills I discuss as it is with any other. Keeping these stages in mind will help you avoid frustration as you progress along the path.
